KOCKS Cooling Solutions
Rolling temperatures have a decisive impact on the microstructure formation of the finished product and its respective mechanical properties. The KOCKS TMR process allows the unique treatment of long products under controlled conditions. Optimizing the control of these temperatures can yield significant cost savings by either reducing alloy elements and/or downstream heat treatment processes. Although, numerous improvements have taken place over the years, KOCKS sets in many aspects a new milestone in the thermomechanical processing of long products.
The reliable water boxes allow the achievement of a precise bar temperature along the rolled stock, which directly results in a homogeneous microstructure over the bar circumference and length. A core component is the advanced cooling nozzle design, which results in an improved cooling process and precise control of the temperature drop and a reduction in water consumption. The cooling process is supported by a state-of-the-art automation system that allows fast manual or fully automatic adjustments of each individual cooling nozzle. The fastest reaction times of the individual process valves allow highly dynamic cooling strategies. This provides rolling mill operators with the best solution for pursuing the objective of obtaining specified product microstructures and mechanical-technological properties.
